Structural Heart Interventional Octagon Case Competition Submissions Now Open

Interventional Octagon Structural Heart Competition

CVI announces the launch of the Interventional Octagon webinar, a monthly case competition starting January 2025, for fellows and early-career physicians. Submitters compete to win a prize and a travel grant to the next CVI Conference (CVI 2025 for January-June sessions, CVI 2026 for July-December sessions).

Each month will feature a different topic. Fellows can submit their cases online (form below) that match the topic criteria to be considered. The CVI directors will choose the three (3) finalists who will compete during the live webinar. Each finalist will have 7 minutes to present their case to an esteemed panel including the CVI directors, after which there will be 8 minutes of Q&A and discussion.

Webinar attendees will be able to vote for their favorite case which will be considered by the panel and directors in choosing the winner. Registration is required to attend the webinar but it is complimentary.

Topics for Interventional Octagon sessions will include (subject to change):

Peripheral/Endovascular sessions:

January: Cased-Based SFA-Pop and BTK
April: Extreme CLI and No-option Patients
July: Acute and Chronic DVT
October: Pulmonary Embolism

Coronary sessions:

February: Imaging and Physiology-guided PCI
May: Drug-coated balloons: When and How
August: Coronary CT Guided PCI
November: Protected PCI and Cardiogenic Shock

Structural Heart sessions:

March: Transcatheter Mitral Therapy
June: Transcatheter Tricuspid Therapy
September: Challenging Structural Interventions
December: LAAC and Beyond

March Competition

The Structural Heart session topic is Transcatheter Mitral Therapy.

Submissions should use the approved Interventional Octagon Powerpoint template to ensure they cover the appropriate content within the 7 minute time limit.

Eligibility

Submitters must be fellows or early-career physicians (5 years or less as a practicing physician)
Submitters may not be previous CVI faculty or industry representatives
Submitters may submit a maximum of two (2) cases
Submitters must be available for the scheduled webinar date to present their case live
Submitters must complete appropriate disclosure and video releases
